Liverpool faced Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and managed a 1-0 victory over the French giants despite only having one shot on target.
To say the Reds were ‘battered’ would be an understatement with the Paris side registering over 13 times as many shots as the reds and 71% possession.

However, substitutes Darwin Nunez and Harvey Elliot combined in the 87th minute to make the score 1-0 with Liverpool’s first and only shot on target.

The Reds will now play PSG at Anfield with the benefits of their home crowd and a 1-0 advantage.
PSG thought that they had established a 1-0 lead over Liverpool through Khvicha Kvaratskhelia but after a VAR review the goal was judged to be offside.
Paris Saint-Germain continued to dominate Liverpool, creating chances and getting shots off for fun but we’re unable to beat Man of the Match Alisson Becker who, in Arne Slots words, “showed he is the best goalkeeper in the world.”

The plaudits of Manchester United legend Peter Schmeichel went the way of the Brazilian shot-stopper as he said: “I think this is one of the best goalkeeping displays I’ve ever seen in my life.”
Alisson said: “It was probably the performance of my life.”
The Liverpool goalkeeper made 9 saves in the game and earned himself a near-perfect match rating as he prevented PSG from going ahead several times.

The entire Liverpool team played with an air of uncertainty, giving the ball away cheaply, making mistake after mistake and not putting any pressure on the PSG players.
Recently, Arne Slot has been extremely critical of Uruguayan striker Darwin Nunez but hailed his performance, stating the number nine “was absolutely there again” and that his presence made the side “more of a threat than before.”
🗣️"It wasn't just Harvey, but also who assisted him, Darwin Nunez, who has come from a difficult few weeks."

Slot was quick to praise the ability of Luis Enriquez’s side, saying: “They showed today that Luis Enrique made an incredible team here after three windows. So much pace, so much work-rate, so much quality in the midfield, how they handle the ball. It was an unbelievable challenge for us.”
Whilst Slot believes the result will boost the confidence of his side, he said: “I think Paris Saint-Germain take a lot of positives towards the game we are going to play in a week. But I can tell you, they’re not only going to play against us, they are also going to play against our fans and we really need them.”
"They were the much better team" 🗣️

Liverpool host Southampton this Saturday, three days before hosting PSG the following Tuesday, which may see Slot rotate his side against the side that sit bottom of the Premier League table.
