Former UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov visited Anfield to watch the Champions League tie between Liverpool and PSG.

The game was tough for fans of the reds, who had multiple chances but were unable to convert before extra time.

Gianluigi Donnarumma proved to be the hero for the Parisians, saving two in the penalty shootout to book his side’s place in the quarter finals.

Despite the talk around the result, MMA fans found something separate to discuss after noticing UFC hall of famer Khabib Nurmagomedov in attendance.

The Dagestani native was joined by former Everton forward Oumar Niasse and current Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, who had a far more enjoyable experience of the match.

Nurmagomedov is personal friends with President Nasser Al-Khelaifi, with the former UFC star visiting multiple games at the Parc de Prince as a personal guest of the Qatari owner.

In his MMA career ‘The Eagle’ was the longest reigning lightweight champion of all time, a record he still holds, being undefeated retiring from the sport with a record of 29-0-0.

Gueye was also thrilled to watch his former side PSG, who he played for before returning to the Toffees in 2022, advance in the competition against many people’s expectations.

PSG will now be expecting to face Aston Villa, who lead Club Brugge 3-1 on aggregate, in the next round of the competition.

Meanwhile for Liverpool focus will turn to Sunday 16th March’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.
