Nick Ball is ready for a special night on Saturday as he defends his WBA featherweight title against TJ Doheny in the M&S Bank arena.
Ball is headlining the ‘Hard Days Night’ card alongside Andrew Caine and Brad Strand both of whom are fighting for belts at their respective weight classes and train alongside Ball at Everton Red Triangle Gym in Liverpool.
When speaking how special of a moment it is, he said:
“It’s massive because we’re in the gym with each other every day, sometimes we would be on different shows but not this one we’re all in the city on the same show so it’s going to be special”
His opponent TJ Doheny lost in his last fight against Naoya Inoue for the undisputed super bantamweight title after he sustained an injury in the seventh round preventing from continuing on.
The Irish boxer brushed off previous comments made by Nick Ball stating he quit in his fight against Inoue.
“I put all of that behind me it was raw at the time just coming off a loss.
“It doesn’t matter how much money you get paid, when you’re coming off an injury loss when you had a chance for the world championship it is raw and for somebody to say you pulled up because you didn’t want any more it is a different story.
“I put it behind me now, I am relaxed, I’m chilled and I am ready to go Saturday night”
