Nick Ball won after TJ Doheny’s camp waived their fighter unfit to continue as the fight approached the 11th round.
The fight was action packed with drama as the ‘Wrecking Ball’ appeared to kick out at Doheny in the first round after a headlock as well as get deducted a point after wrestling the Irish fighter to the ground on two occasions during the fight.
The deducted point didn’t make much difference in the fight, with Ball damaging Doheny with multiple three and four punch combinations leaving the crowd astounded that Doheny was still standing.
The Liverpool born fighter is still undefeated after defending his WBA featherweight belt for the second successive time and Frank Warren provided an update to IFL TV on Ball potentially fighting Inoue.
“If that happens, it’ll be towards the end go the year or the start of next year. That’s the plan.
“Our job is to keep him busy and keep coming back here. Great undercard as well with fantastic fighters. I’ve got to take my hat off to TJ. Nick Ball is the best featherweight in the world.”
Andrew Caine beats Charlie Edwards by split decision
Andrew Caine also won earlier in the night against Charlie Edwards by split decision to edge a step closer to a world championship opportunity.
Despite Edwards being cut on the side of the head in Round 1, the fight didn’t leave much to be desired by the crowd, with Cain and many in attendance frustrated by the Edwards approach of moving round the ring and staying out of danger boxing on the back foot.
Edwards did do a good job making Cain miss early on in the fight but as the fight got into the latter stages the Liverpool born fighter began to find his target more consistently.
Cain had previously won in Liverpool in his last fight by Technical Knockout in the second round against Lazaro Casseres.
