Alia Leat and Jamie Lewis were named the all-around champions at the British Gymnastics Championships in Liverpool.

The competition marked the start of a new Olympic cycle and was held March 20-23 at the M&S Bank Arena.

Women’s Senior All-Around

Alia Leat from Heathrow Gymnastics Club claimed the British Champion title in the women’s competition, with a score of 52.200.

Leat also took the English Championship title back in February.

Speaking about her win on Saturday, she said: “I’m very impressed with myself today – very proud.

“My beam routine is quite difficult, but I took it one move at a time, which certainly paid off.”

Alia’s coaches, Vince and Lilianah, said: “When Alia came back to us in September and said she’d like to come out of retirement, it was a joyful day and it’s crowned by today’s achievement.”

Frances Stone, of Amber Valley, secured silver with a score of 51.350 and Emily Roper, of Pipers Vale, took bronze with a score of 49.600.

The crowd also welcomed back Jessica Gadirova, who was unable to perform at the Paris Olympics due to an ACL injury.

She is still working her way back to full fitness, and competed only on the beam and uneven bars.

Men’s Senior All-Around

Jamie Lewis scored an impressive 80.200 to deliver Woking Gymnastics Club their first title since 1996.

He also claimed the all-around title at the English Championships several weeks ago.

He said: “I’m over the moon really.

“I’m so happy with my performance and to come away with the win.

“It’s really cool to bring it home for Woking and hopefully I can inspire all of the younger generation coming up, to show them that they can do things like this too.”

Jonas Rushworth, from Leeds, took silver with a score of 78.850.

Only Luke Whitehouse competed from those who were at Paris 2024.

The back-to-back European floor champion competed on every event but had a few stumbles which saw him claim bronze, scoring 78.650.

Men’s Under 18

Sol Scott, of Huntingdon Olympic, had an outstanding performance, claiming the all-around title, with a score of 77.200 and found himself regularly on the podium for the apparatus too.

Joining him on the podium was Evan McPhillips, from City of Manchester Institute of Gymnastics, and Sebastian Ramirez-Capes, from Leeds.
