Liverpool darts star Stephen Bunting has had an impressive week, winning both Premier League night nine in Berlin and the Elten Safety Shoes International Darts Open in Germany.
Now “the Bullet” is hoping to continue that form as the Scouser steps into a hostile environment in Manchester in tomorrow’s Premier League.
Bunting was sat on zero points going into the ninth Premier League night last week.
But he managed to change his fortunes by beating Nathan Aspinall, Luke Humphries and Gerwyn Price to take the spoils.
Bunting told Online Darts following that win: “I think I’m dreaming; I might have to pinch myself to be honest.
“Obviously, there’s been a lot of negative talk about me, and I’ve kept believing all the way through. I feel like I’ve played to a good standard most of the Premier League apart from maybe the Dobey game.
“But yeah, I’ve never ever stopped trying. I always give 110% and when I won that game today against Nathan (Aspinall) it lifted a massive monkey off my back. I felt so relieved, I was dancing in the practice room to be honest I was so happy.
“To then beat Luke (Humphries) and Gezzy (Price) in the final, it’s a dream come true.”
He then went on to win his first European Tour title in Riesa, averaging over 101 across the weekend.
He told the PDC: “It feels unbelievable, it’s been a dream week for me.
“I’m just so happy to get the win, I came in with a lot of confidence after winning my first Premier League night.
“Nathan didn’t play his best there but I’m sure we’re going to have many more battles.
“It’s been a long few days, but I love coming to Germany and playing in front of these fans.”
The Players Championship events 11 and 12 have been taking place this week but Bunting is one of the tour card holders who are absent. This is likely to take a break from the busy PDC schedule.
In this week’s Premier League, Bunting plays Luke Humphries in his quarter final.
He beat the world number one 6-2 last week in Berlin and also beat him 7-6 in last weekend’s European Tour.
Recent form is certainly on Bunting’s side, and he will be optimistic that he can win another Premier League night.
