With Everton fighting for Premier League survival under new manager Sean Dyche, we’ve taken a look at the Toffees loanees to see how they are faring away from Goodison Park.
- Dele Alli
Having no impact at the Toffees, Frank Lampard didn’t see Dele Alli in his plans and decided to send him out on loan to Turkish side Besiktas.
The Black Eagles manager, Şenol Güneş will be disappointed that the England international hasn’t become a key figure for his side.
In an interview in January, Gunes said: “Dele Alli has had a good career. But he doesn’t deserve to play at the moment”.
The ex-Spurs player has only scored twice in 12 matches within his loan spell, one of those goals coming recently against Alanyaspor.
The 26-year-old will try and reinvigorate himself in Güneş’s plans hoping to finish the season with a level of consistency in the starting XI, having only started two of the last 10 games.
- Andre Gomes
During the 2021/22 Premier League season, the now ex-Everton manager Lampard favoured Abdoulaye Doucouré and Allan in the midfield rather than Andre Gomes.
In the last 15 games of the season, the Portuguese international only started three and wasn’t included in the squad in six of them.
Following the transfer of midfield powerhouse Amadou Onana, the former Barcelona player was granted a loan move to Ligue 1 side, LOSC Lille.
Since joining the 2019/20 French champions, he’s been a rotational figure, starting eight and coming on as a substitute in seven.
On average, he has a pass completion rate of 86% and averages 42 passes per game.
Most recently, Gomes was able to get a goal against Rennes and seems like he’s starting to find his feet in a red and blue shirt.
- Jarrad Branthwaite
In December 2021, the 19-year-old started and scored the equaliser against Chelsea to earn a struggling Everton side a point. Many thought he’d be given more of a role in a blue shirt.
After that match, he only featured in five out of 21 games within the season.
He joined PSV Eindhoven in the summer and has enjoyed an impressive loan spell becoming a regular feature in the starting line-up for the Dutch side.
In his last seven games, he’s played every minute for The Boerens and in his last match, he scored in a 6-0 win against FC Groningen.
The manager and ex Manchester United player, Ruud Van Nistlerooy is desperate to sign him on a permanent deal after being left ‘satisfied’ with how he’s taken his opportunity in the team.
The Eindhoven manager said in an interview with Dutch publication Voetbal International: “I told the previous director to sign Jarrad very quickly and I say it now to the current one!
“Jarrad has really fought his way into the team, he got his chance and took it. I am satisfied, I see him as a key player and that’s how we see him internally.
“It’s true that we may have competition in our attempts to keep Jarrad longer. What is extremely important is that he is having a great time at PSV.
“That is a basic condition if we have a chance at all”.
There is no buyout obligation in his loan contract and the young centre back is expected to return to Merseyside at the end of the Eredivisie season.
- Niels Nkhoulou
The promising French left-back joined Everton in the summer of 2020 but has only made six appearances since joining the club.
Last season, he played in the Jupiter Pro League with Standard Liege playing in 23 matches but struggled to add any goals or assists, finishing the season with zero goal contributions.
He went onto join Cardiff City in the summer transfer window where he had to wait for his opportunity having not been included in the squad of their first five matches.
He became a consistent regular under the ex-manager Mark Hudson but again, he couldn’t make a massive impact within his attacking approaching in matches, only getting one assist.
After the World Cup break, He fell out of favour with the ex-Bluebirds manager and only made two out of five appearances in the championship until he was recalled back to Merseyside.
He was straight away sent out on loan again to Ligue 2 French side Saint-Etienne in the January transfer window and has gone onto start four out of five matches.
The French U19 international has already doubled his assists with two compared to his 1 he got in 18 matches during his time in South Wales.
- Jean-Phillipe Gbamin
When Jean-Phillipe Gbamin joined Everton in 2019, then manager Marco Silva and Evertonian’s thought they’d be signing a young strong, technically gifted, versatile centre defensive midfielder from Bundesliga side Mainz.
What they didn’t expect was for him to be so injury prone appearing in just six matches in three years for the club.
A decent loan spell last year with CSKA Moscow kept his place on the books with the Toffees but he needed to prove himself again this season where he’d join Turkish side Trabzonspor.
The Ivorian international has suffered with injuries this campaign but when he’s been available, the manager Abdullah Avci has tried to feature him as much as he can trusting him more as a ball playing centre back.
Former Trabzonspor player and Turkey international Giray Kacar said: “In my opinion, Gbamin is one of the best Trabzonspor have ever had.
“His physicality, speed and his vision are good in my opinion”.
Gbamin is only 27 years old, and his versatility is proving to be effective.
Under Dyche, he could be a reintroduced figure in Merseyside if he’s able to stay fit.
