This year’s edition of the National Speed Lifesaving Championships was brought to Merseyside and some of Great Britain’s biggest talents were back in action.
The Royal Lifesaving Society UK promotes drowning prevention and teaches lifeguarding across the country, but it also holds yearly tournaments to showcase what the organisation has to offer.
Event organiser, Teresa Myatt, spoke to MerseySportLive about what the sport means to the nation’s lifesavers and what more can be done in the future.
Whilst Great Britain athletes and world medalists, Thomas Leggett and James Blaby, shared how it feels to compete for the only sport in the world with a humanitarian foundation.
