Adopted-Liverpudlian Danny Roberts secured a knockout win in UFC Moscow.
The Englishman defeated Zelim Imadaev after landing a vicious left hook late into the second round after a back-and-forth fight prior.
The fight was close for over the nine minutes it lasted with both men having success in the grappling and striking department, before Roberts landed the left hand that stopped the fight immediately.
As stated in the fight preview, Roberts came into the fight off the back of two losses, with the last being a devastating knockout to Brazilian Michel Pereira.
A win was vital for him at UFC Moscow and he achieved that.
His emotion was clear after the fight as he thanked Liverpool in his post-fight speech in the octagon afterwards.
A fight at UFC London next March makes sense for him.
Similarly, Durham’s Davey Grant earned his first win in over three years as he was given a split decision over Grigorii Popov.
In a night of shock wins, both English men were rewarded with much-needed redemption in Russia’s capital.
