Merseyside police confirmed that fourteen people had been arrested at the Aintree Festival Weekend.
Aintree Racecourse saw tens of thousands of people over the three day event.
Eight men were arrested on the Friday of the Grand National which is commonly known as ‘Ladies Day.’
Four men were arrested on suspicion of affray; two on suspicion of assault; one for drunk and disorderly and another man was arrested on suspicion of a drug offence.
Saturday, the day of the Grand National race six people arrested.
A man was arrested on suspicion of sexual touching; a woman for assault; a man and a woman were also arrested on suspicion of being drunk and disorderly.
A further two men were arrested on suspicion of assault of a constable who was in duty.
Chief Inspector Iain Wyke of Merseyside police said, “Given the numbers of people attending, I am delighted that once again the overwhelming majority of visitors behaved themselves responsibly and enjoyed the fantastic atmosphere.”
This year’s festival saw a massive decline in the number of arrests last year, as there were 118 arrested on the Saturday alone.
The arrests last year came after there were several protestors attempting to gain entry to the racecourse, in protest of horse welfare.
