Long-time Tranmere Rovers supporter Tom Boys confronted club owner Mark Palios after their 0-0 draw to Fleetwood Town.
Mr Boys was pictured squaring up to Palios in the Prenton Park stands on Tuesday.
And speaking to Merseysportlive afterwards, he explained that the situation was the boiling over of frustration from years’ of poor decisions.
Mr Boys said: “I shouted to [Nigel Adkins] get out of our club and told Mark he needs to sort it out.
“Mark came over obviously unhappy but we exchanged views respectfully.
“I respect him but it’s clear that I, and I suspect most of the fanbase, have very different views [on the team].”
Tranmere are sitting four points clear of relegation in 22nd place in the League Two table.
The tie was their first point since January 25 and their first clean sheet since January 4th.
Mr Boys added: “I feel the manager should have gone a long time ago.
“Over the last 15 games prior to [Tuesday] we were the worst team in the league by three points… yet we carry on with the same.”
Manager Adkins has caught more than just Mr Boys’ anger this season.
After the final whistle, a group of fans unveiled a banner that said “Adkins out”.
Despite fans’ growing frustration, the Tranmere boss believed the game against Fleetwood showed the team’s bold nature and commitment.
Adkins said: “We’ve tried to get on the front foot and affect the game in a positive manner.
“I defy anybody to say we haven’t done that, and I defy anybody to say you haven’t seen a totally committed team having a rightful go for each other.”
Tranmere’s next match is at home against MK Dons on Saturday at 3pm.
