Liverpool are back to winning ways after claiming all three points against Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield this evening.
The hosts were surprised very early in the game after Tottenham took the lead only 47 seconds after kick off through skipper Harry Kane.
A quick attack build up following kick off from Tottenham resulted in a great effort from Son which hit the crossbar. The ball rebounded onto the path of Kane who headed it into the back of the net making the score 1-0.
Liverpool were quick to turn the pressure on keeping lots of the ball and creating loads of chances but unable to convert any. The best chance for the Reds came in the 20th minute after a sublime cross from Trent Alexander Arnold got Mane through in a one on one scenario vs Gazzaniga but the Senegalese forward’s header was wide of the mark.
The equaliser for the hosts came in the 52′ through captain Jordan Henderson with shot from the right side of the box into the bottom left corner from close range. Liverpool then continued to pressure Tottenham with impressive high tempo and movement of the ball, looking for a mistake to capitalise on.
The comeback became a fact in the 74′ after Serge Aurier fouled Sadio Mane in the box to award Liverpool a penalty. Mohamed Salah didn’t fail to convert, scoring his 6th goal in 7 games against the Spurs. The Egyptian clinched three points for the Reds putting them six points ahead of second placed Manchester City.
Liverpool next face Arsenal on wednesday night at Anfield for their Carabao Cup round of 16 match.
