Liverpool’s M&S bank arena will play host to the premier league darts this week. Merseyside’s Michael Smith and Bunting both compete.
With the tournament now coming into its 6th week, the table is starting to get interesting. The players tussling for the all-important top four spots.
Merseyside’s Michael Smith is one of those players looking to reach finals night at the O2 later this year. He has hit a rich vein of form at the perfect time. After a tough start to proceedings, Smith has really turned it on in the last few weeks. With three consecutive wins and a 9-dart finish in Dublin, Bullyboy is now joint top of the table with Premier league debutant Glen Durrant. Smith will face PDC world champion Peter Wright, to open the show on Thursday night.
It is also a huge night for another of the Merseyside contingent this Thursday. Stephen Bunting makes his return to the tournament for the first time in 5 years. “The Bullet”, one of this year’s contenders will face up against former world champion Rob Cross. He will be looking to follow up on Luke Humphreys heroics last week and become the second player to win as a contender.
Bunting is looking forward to the occasion and speaking to the PDC has said, “I just can’t wait to get up there and put a show on.”
The show is also host to three more great games. Irelands Daryl Gurney faces up against the inform Glen Durrant. Gary Anderson will face Stockport’s Nathan Aspinall. The pick of the night sees world number one Michael Van Gerwen face fiery Welshman Gerwyn Price.
There is still few tickets left for the night, which is sure to be a brilliant night with an electric atmosphere. The show goes on air at 7pm with play commencing at around 7:15pm.
