Neal and Ken Skupski will face fellow Brit Lloyd Glasspool and his partner Harri Heliovaara in the quarter finals of the ATP Tour 250 in Marseille later today.
The brothers from Liverpool eased into the men’s doubles quarter finals with a straightforward 6-3 6-3 win over Mackenzie McDonald and Yoshihito Nishioka on Tuesday.
Standing as the number one seeds in the tournament, they will be looking to win their third ATP title as a pairing.
The tournament is one of five French tournaments on the ATP Tour calendar and the winners of the doubles will come away with around £8,000.
The figures show a 75% drop off in prize money from last year as a result of the pandemic.
Their opponents today, Glasspool and Heliovaara, progressed to this stage by beating the Tsitsipas brothers 7-5 6-1.
It was a solid victory for the pair, considering that Stefanos Tsitsipas is a top five ranked singles player in the world.
Looking at the wider scope of the draw, there’s some tough potential pairings for the Skupski brothers to contend with.
The second seeds, Liam Bambridge and Dominic Inglot are ranked in a similar position to the Liverpool men but Inglot has been ranked as high as 18 back in 2014.
The third seeds including Scot Jonny O’Mara and Aisam-Ul-Haq Quresh would be another tough potential matchup as Quresh was formerly a top 10 player back in 2011.
The Skupski brothers will take to the court around 3PM GMT later today.
