Everton Under 21’s face Mansfield Town in the last 16 of the EFL Trophy on Wednesday at Goodison Park. The winners face an away trip to Lincoln City in the quarter finals on the 13th of December.
The young blues haven’t won in three Premier League Cup games but impressed in their victory against Paris Saint German in the Premier League International Cup, with Tom Cannon scoring twice in a 2-1 win just after he made his debut in the Carabao Cup against Bournemouth.
The visitors sit eighth in the Sky Bet League Two with games coming weekly. With the on going World Cup Everton will now prioritise the League after being dumped out of the FA Cup by Sheffield Wednesday.
They took the lead but conceded two with ten minutes to go. Although The Stags only sit four points off Barrow who are in fourth place in League Two, the visitors could play reserves and players who need game, so Everton should have a good opportunity to progress.
