Jack Catterall and Jorge Linares looked in good shape as the weigh-ins were completed this afternoon ahead of the Matchroom card at the M&S Bank Arena on Saturday night.
Defending WBA Intercontinental champion Catterall (27-1, 13 KOs) and former three-weight world champion Linares (47-8, 29 KOs) both weighed in at the super-lightweight limit of 140lbs (63.5kg).
There was an intense stare down, but it ended with a respectful handshake between the fighters ahead of their WBA Intercontinental title contest.
Liverpool fighter Peter McGrail (W7-0 KO5) weighed in at 121.4lbs and his opponent Fran Mendoza (W17-KO7) came in at 119.8lbs, both comfortably under the 122lbs super-bantamweight limit.
The fight for the WBA Continental Super-Bantamweight title could possibly steal the show. McGrail is highly regarded and has been compared to Vasily Lomachenko because of his amateur pedigree and his slick quick-footed style out of a southpaw stance.
Aqib Fiaz (12-0) was right on the limit at 130lbs and Reece Bellotti (16-5) weighed in at 128.9lbs. Another belt is on the line at the M&S Bank Arena as the fight between Fiaz and Bellotti is for the Commonwealth Super-featherweight belt. It is also a final eliminator for the British featherweight title.
Another fighter on the limit for his weight class was Jose Sanmartin (34-7-1 21KOs) who weighed in at 122lbs. The experienced Colombian is up against undefeated Shabaz Masoud (11-0 1KO) for the WBA International super-bantamweight belt. Masoud weighed in at 121.8lbs
Undefeated Khaleel Majid (11-0 3KO’s) weighed 141.3lbs and local fighter Tom Farrell (21-7 5KO’s) weighed 141.9lbs ahead of their match-up.
The son of British Boxing Legend and rising star Campbell Hatton (13-0 5KO’s) weighed 142.9lbs. His opponent Jamie Sampson (9-2) came in at 141.1lbs
Muhammad Ali (3-0 1KO) weighed 123.9lbs and Giulio Commerso (2-0) weighed 123.6lbs, ahead of the fight in which one will lose their unblemished record.
Local fighter Paddy Lacey (8-0 1KO) came it at 163.1 pounds with opponent Owen Kirk (3-1-2) at 163.6lbs.
William Croll (1-0) weighed 153.9lbs. He will fight Martin Shaw (4-16-3 1KO) who weighed in at 153.1lbs in a four-round contest.
Another Liverpool born fighter on the undercard is Jack Turner (2-0 2KO’s) who scaled at 117.3lbs and will look to expand his perfect record against the experienced Adam Yahaya (23-10-2 12KO’s) who weighed 116.6lbs.
