Tranmere Rovers were beaten 2-1 at home to Doncaster Rovers in League 2, with goals from Harrison Biggins and Modou Faal sealing the victory for the away side.
Captain Connor Jennings managed to pull one back for the home team, but it wasn’t enough and Nigel Adkins’ side could drop into the relegation zone by the end of the weekend as the disappointing start to the season continues.
The defeat marks four games without a win for Tranmere, as boos echoed around Prenton Park at the full-time whistle.
Rovers started the game positively, with Josh Hawkes firing the ball across the goal, only to be cleared off the line.
However, the visitors began to take control as they opened the scoring in the 27th minute with a well worked move down the right, seeing Zain Westbrooke cut it back for Biggins who slotted away nicely.
A moment of madness occurred in the 41st minute, as Doncaster manager Grant McCann was sent off for preventing a Tranmere counterattack by planting his foot on the ball.
However, it had little impact on the winning side as Faal added a second with a brilliant chip over goalkeeper Joe Murphy following a poor error from Jordan Turnball, gifting the striker the opportunity.
Jennings managed to pull one back for the home side in the 70th minute with a brilliant left footed finish from outside the box.

The Tranmere skipper had a chance to equalise six minutes later, with the ball falling to him on the edge of the box, but couldn’t convert as he fired it over the bar.
Despite a late surge of pressure from the home side, Doncaster held out as they gained their second win on the bounce, moving up to 15th in the table.
Tranmere now sit 21st in the table, only out of the relegation zone on goals scored as they now travel to Morecambe on Tuesday evening with another tough test in what continues to be a difficult period.
