Chester had to settle forced for a point in a 0-0 stalemate against league leaders Scunthorpe United at the Deva Stadium.
The Seals started actually started as the better the side, creating the numerous first half chances, the best of the game came on 22 minutes when Nathan Woodthorpe set up Tom Peers, but his effort was saved by Ross Fitzsimon
Dylan Mottley-Henry, given the nod to start over Kurt Willoughby caused all sorts of problems for Scunthorpe, but to no avail. Charlie Caton and Mottley-Henry, both had their chances but this was a tale of missed chances and opportunities for Chester City.
In the eyes of Scunthorpe fabs, Chester were luck not to be down to ten men. Woodthorpe, slipped and caught Ross Barrows, but his clumsy challenge was met with a yellow card
Scunthorpe had to wait until the 35th minute before their first proper chance to break the deadlock, in a comedy of errors for Chester goalkeeper Elyh Harrison, who after being caught in no mans land, was forced into a back peddaling save from the quick thinking Danny Whitehall.
With the first 20 minutes of the second half seeing few chances, Chester Manager Calum McIntyre brought on his summer signing Kurt Willoughby to try and create an impact, but it was another frustrating half for the home side’s fans, who were kept on the edge of their seats right until the very end. Scunthope’s last ditch 25 yard free kicked sailed over the bar.
The draw means Chester continue their unbeaten streak in the league to 12 games, whilst the visitors remain top of the pile.
Not to be for either side at the Deva Stadium!
