Tranmere Rovers manager Nigel Adkins says any takeover of the club is out of his control, and he is fully focussed on playing matters.
Rovers make the short trip to Crewe, amid a multi million takeover rumours, involving American rapper A$AP Rocky.
After the high profile takeover of Wrexham by Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, transatlantic interest in English football is nothing new.
Celebrity names including Joe Tacopina, ex-lawyer for former US President Donald Trump, and now 36-year-old A$AP Rocky is thought to be involved in the bid.
Adkins said: “I’m aware of things that are going on, but I can’t control that.
“What I can do is control how we train every day, the culture that we’ve got, the environment that we’ve got, and make sure that we’ve got everybody pulling in the same direction and not get clouded with things that could go on in the future.
“I’m a Tranmere supporter. I’m from Birkenhead. I just want the best for our football club, and if there’s going to be further investments to help the club kick on then I’m really looking forward to the potential that might bring.”
The club is currently jointly owned by husband and wife Mark and Nicola Palios, who took over in August 2014.
Mark Palios hinted towards the A$AP Rocky speculation in a recent interview with Sky Sports, but would not directly say whether talks were officially underway.
When asked about a timeframe for a potential takeover deal, Palios responded: “ASAP.”
Tranmere left-back Connor Wood says the players see the reports as outside noise, and are keeping focused on their next game, at 6th placed Crewe Alexandra.
He said: “It’s out of our hands. Whatever’s happening outside of what’s on the football pitch, we don’t really take much notice to it.
“You see it all over social media and stuff, but for us, we know as much as the next person outside of the club.”
“My focus is on control. The controllables. The team look to the next game,” he said.
