Tommy Fleetwood birdied the 18th hole to earn a dramatic tie in his first group game of the WGC Dell Technologies Matchplay, against South Korean Si Woo Kim.

The Southpor-born golfer landed a 41-yard approach shot just ten feet from the hole, to set up the birdie finish.

This leaves Fleetwood tied second in his group after the first round of matches. Antoine Rozner leads after his victory over Bryson Dechambeau.

Fleetwood’s next group game is against the Frenchman, Rozner, which tees off at 16:31 GMT.

Victory in this game could see Fleetwood top the group, which would set up a thrilling matchup with the hard-hitting Dechambeau in the final round of group games.

The WGC Dell Technologies Matchplay starts with 16 groups containing four golfers each, before the top player in each group advances to the last 16 where the knockout matches begin, with the final due to take place on Sunday evening.

Fleetwood will look to build on his 2019 performance, where he failed to get out of his group. A win against Rozner today would go a long way to securing a place in the last 16
