Tranmere Rovers’ Cameron Norman hopes his side can can overcome their recent poor form to create special memories in this weekend’s FA Cup clash against Oldham Athletic.
Tranmere are 19th in League Two and have lost back-to-back games.
Their most recent loss was 3-1 against Crewe Alexandra where midfielder, Brad Walker was banned for three matches after he was found guilty of violent conduct by the FA in the 51st minute.
Norman said: “A lot of us in the changing room felt like it was a disappointing day where it was another game we were up for.
“We started the game well and got ourselves into a lead, but we never felt like we gave a true stamp of ourselves onto that game.”
Norman, who joined Tranmere earlier this summer has expressed his excitement ahead of the Northwest Derby, despite the team’s recent form.
He said: “For me these are the games you look forward to, these are the games where you can create special moments.”
The 29-year-old is confident the atmosphere will be like no other whilst praising the fans for their consistent support throughout the season.
He said: “The last couple of games, where we haven’t got the results, we wanted the fans stuck behind us. From the first minute to the last.”
The Rovers have home advantage and are favourites, although it is not something that has affected the team’s focus.
Norman said: “Being the favourites and things d that is not something we necessarily think about. We expect a tough game, we will throw ourselves into it and hopefully get that positive result.”
Whilst Norman is confident going into this tie and the atmosphere in the changing room has been nothing but positive, the defender has highlighted the importance of patience.
He said: “Full focus right now is on Saturday, and then our full focus will be on the next game. I think that mentality at the moment is something we need to focus on, dealing with the next game not getting too ahead of ourselves.”
Nigel Adkins’ side are still “trying to find the right formula” and just like in every team, a little bit of luck is always appreciated.

Defender Norman said: “I think it’s been difficult recently, but football is just about resilience. You go through these stages, and I’d be not so positive if I didn’t think that we couldn’t get ourselves going and I think this weekend is a great game for us to do that.”
