Liverpool vice-captain Virgil van Dijk has admitted he still has ‘no idea’ whether he will remain at the club, with his contract set to expire in the summer.

Following the Reds’ Champions League exit against PSG, the 33-year-old said that while talks are not ‘on hold,’ anyone claiming to know where he ends up is ‘lying to your face.’

“If there is news, you guys will know it,” he said to the media.

“But I don’t even know myself. Everyone knows there are some conversations behind the scenes but that is about it.

“Listen, there are 10 games to go (this season) and that is my full focus.”

Further questions were raised around the Dutchman’s future after he was spotted chatting in the tunnel with PSG bosses after the defeat to Les Parisiens on Tuesday night.

French publication RMC have reported that Van Dijk initially began a conversation with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, with whom he is understood to have a strong relationship.

This was before being joined by sporting director Luis Campos, who Van Dijk apparently apologised to for comments he made after the reverse fixture last week.

The Reds defender had responded to Campos’ claims that PSG should have had a penalty in the first leg by saying, “It’s not Ligue 1, bro.”

Regardless of whether a potential summer move was discussed between the trio, the Netherlands captain was full of praise for his opponents.

“Congrats to PSG, they’ve been the best team we faced this season so far,” he said to Canal Plus.

“Credits to Luis Enrique, he built a very good squad.”
