Marine face Atherton Collieries in their FA Cup Third Qualifying Round replay after a goalless first tie at the Skuna Stadium.
Marine, hoping to continue their FA Cup love affair after last season’s heroics, struggled to create chances with the best opportunity coming in the last minute through Tranmere Rovers loanee, Kyle Hayde.
Last season, the Northern Premier League West side became the lowest ever ranked side to reach the FA Cup third round proper, landing a plum televised tie with Premier League Tottenham.
Ahead of tomorrow’s replay, Marine assistant manager Alan Morgan expects “the same” as Saturday’s game.
He added: “They’re a good side, especially here (at the Skuna Stadium).
“They work really hard. We have got to find another way of winning.”
Full-back James Joyce played his final game for the club – the 26-year-old is emigrating to Dubai for work purposes.
He will be a massive loss for Marine not just for tomorrow’s replay, but for the foreseeable future.
Marine will go into the game at the Marine Travel Arena, with confidence they can win the tie after an unbeaten start to the season at home and having beaten Workington, also in a FA Cup replay in the First Round Qualifying.
A big crowd is expected at Tuesday’s game with The Mariners averaging an attendance of more than 1,000 this season, with 1,003 supporters attending the last round’s 3-0 victory over Warrington Town.
Club captain Niall Cummins looks set to lead the line, with experienced defender David Raven expected to return to the starting line-up after appearing in the matchday squad on Saturday, due to missing the last few matches with a back injury.
