Liverpool’s Molly McCann is set to return to the octagon against Ashlee Evans-Smith next March at UFC London.

The promotion officially announced the news today.

The flyweight fighter featured at the event last March, when she defeated Brazilian Priscila Cachoeira in the first step of her current three fight win streak that has seen her amass attention in the sport.

After losing her UFC debut to Gillian Robertson in Liverpool, McCann has proved she deserves her spot in the sport’s biggest promotion with three wins in 2019.

Her latest win came against promotional newcomer Diana Belbita. She dominated the Romanian fighter over the full 15 minutes, coming close to finishing the fight on two occasions.

The former Cage Warriors flyweight champion trains out of Next Generation MMA in the city, alongside fellow UFC fighter Chris Fishgold as well as fan-favourite and former Cage Warriors featherweight champion Paddy Pimblett.

It was expected Molly McCann would face a ranked opponent at the event, but ultimately, if she keeps winning, she cannot be denied her shot at those ranked.

Her opponent Evans-Smith lost her last fight to Andrea Lee in February, but she has been in the UFC since 2014 so will present some danger with her experience.

The announcement is the first one scheduled for the UFC London card on March 21st at the O2 Arena.

Also, it is likely middleweight Darren Till will headline the card after his victory over Kelvin Gastelum last month.

Tickets for the event go on sale on January 31st on Ticketmaster.
