Tranmere Rovers host Mansfield Town on Friday (7:45pm) in a crucial promotion clash, looking for their first win in five matches.
Poor form
Micky Mellon’s side currently sit in the final Sky Bet League Two play-off spot despite their poor form in 2022.
In 2022, Tranmere have won four out of 13 matches this calendar year and has seen Rovers slip from the automatic promotion places to the brink of the play-offs.
Tranmere lost 3-2 at Northampton last time out but after the match Mellon said he still has hope with 11 games left.
“We have just got to move on, we need to get that spark back.
“As disappointed as we are, we have to learn the lessons from this performance.
“We have to prepare ourselves for the next game on Friday against Mansfield.”
Mellon’s defence have leaked seven goals in the last two games including two first half goals at Northampton last time out.
Despite scoring four goals, the leaky defence is the issue for Tranmere as they look to gain promotion to Sky Bet League One.
Opposition
Mansfield Town sit one place above Tranmere with a better goal difference and three games in hand.
While Tranmere are looking down the table, Mansfield have their sights on the final automatic play-off spot.
Mansfield are unbeaten in 2022 so far with a run with their last defeat coming at Sutton United in November.
Previous meeting
In the reverse fixture, Mansfield won 2-0 back in October with goals from Rhys Oats and Danny Johnson.
Tranmere face a tough task if they are to end Mansfield Town’s unbeaten run and end their own barren spell of results.
