Phoenix club Widnes Town FC are pushing to join the non-neague football pyramid, as they encourage people to ‘Back the Bid’.
The newly reformed club have been set up to replace the old Widnes FC. They had achieved promotion to the Northern Premier League on the final day after a 1-0 win against Trafford last April.
Despite the historic achievement for the club, they resigned from the league in the summer.
Since then, the phoenix club looks to return with the support of the council, fans and community to bring back non-league football for the 26/27 season.
The Wools are already moving in the right direction with the announcement of Paul McNally as first team manager in December.
Mersey Sport Live spoke to interim chairman, Tony Cottingham, and fan channel ‘Talk of the Town’s’ Mike Hankey about the bid. Listen below >>>
