Jurgen Klopp insists his Liverpool side’s inconsistent results have reflected maximum effort before welcoming The Clarets to Anfield on Thursday.
The Reds’ boss remains optimistic of winning the title in a season like no other.
“It’s a different title race this year and we have to be ready 100% and that is what we try to do,” he said today.
“We know that we are not exactly where we’d like to be, it’s about that we have to fight it.”
Roberto Firmino’s end product has frequently come into question this season, but Klopp insisted it was nothing to worry about.
“We didn’t score a lot of goals in the last two games but that doesn’t mean that Roberto’s performance dropped.
“For sure somebody has to be calm in this kind of situation, it’s not a catastrophe, it’s not perfect it’s just to be as good as you can be.”
Captain Jordan Henderson was last played alongside the also makeshift Fabinho at centre back, yet both have received praise for displaying versatile capabilities.
“Defensively they did outstandingly well and offensively can make a positive difference.
“United and Burnley are different in counter-attacking and we have to make sure we find the solution again”.
Burnley’s overall threat was not questioned despite two consecutive defeats.
“They didn’t score a lot of goals but didn’t concede a lot as well.
“It was always like this against Burnley a proper fight, second ball fight, defending channel balls and a specific intensity”.
A win will leave Liverpool one point behind leaders Manchester City in the pursuit of defending the title.
