A tribunal has ruled that Liverpool must pay up to £4.3m to Fulham for the transfer of Harvey Elliott from 2019.
The fee for the Fulham academy product is a record fee for a 16-year-old.
The Professional Football Compensation Committee tribunal set a guaranteed compensation fee of £1.2m for the transfer of Harvey Elliott to Fulham.
Elliott signed his first professional contract at the age of 17 in July 2020, which meant Liverpool had to pay a further £300,000 to Fulham.
A further £200,000 will be owed to Fulham when Elliott signs his second contract at Liverpool. Elliot is expected to sign his second contract when he turns 18.
The remaining £2.6m is subject to other clauses being met. These include first team appearances at Liverpool and international call ups.
A Fulham statement said: “The award is a record amount for a 16-year-old, in these circumstances, Fulham is very pleased.”
The Guardian and The Athletic reported that Fulham were hoping for a sum of £10m plus add ons for Elliott.
The compensation falls far short of what Fulham expected for their academy product.
Elliott is currently on a loan spell at Blackburn Rovers in the Skybet Championship.
He has impressed in his spell with the Rovers, netting four goals with eight assists.
A Liverpool statement said: “We now look forward to welcoming Harvey back from his loan spell with Blackburn Rovers in the summer and helping him continue to build towards a long and successful career at Anfield.”
