Manchester City star Benjamin Mendy has been denied bail for a third time after being charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault.

The 27-year-old Frenchman has been held in custody at HMP Altcourse in Liverpool since August 27.

The alleged offences date back to October 2020 with one accusation allegedly taking place in August this year.

No members of the press or public were allowed in the bail hearing at Chester Crown Court.

A trial is set to take place on January 24 next year with a plea hearing taking place before that scheduled for November 15.

The offences are alleged to have taken place at his home on Withinlee Road in Prestbury Cheshire.
