Liverpool Football Club have announced their pre-season plans for summer, with the Reds set to tour Asia starting with a friendly against Manchester United.
This morning the club confirmed the friendly, to be played at Rajamangala Stadium in Bangkok, Thailand, on July 12th.
Liverpool have not toured Asia since 2017 when they won the Premier League Cup. It is also their first match at the Rajamangala Stadium since summer 2016.
The Reds have one of the biggest global followings for a football club, and in Thailand have 14 million fans.
As a result, the club have announced Bangkok won’t be their only stop, with more yet to be announced.
The players will also take part in ‘community projects and cultural activities’ during the tour.
2022’s pre-season is also an unusual one, as key first-team players would be expected to be at the World Cup.
However, with the tournament moved to November to accommodate for hosts Qatar’s climate, it gives Klopp a full summer to prepare for the 2022/23 campaign.
In the meantime, Liverpool have an intense April schedule. They are still in contention for the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup.
