Tranmere Rovers Left Back Connor Wood has bemoaned Tranmere’s lack of goalscoring so far this season and says all are to blame.
As the Wirral club prepare to face Crewe he said: “We’ve all got to take ownership and responsibility for the lack of goals because goals can come from anywhere, any position.”
Rovers are a lowly 18th in the Sky bet League Two with the unwanted tag as the league’s lowest scorers with just seven goals, three less than rock bottom Morecambe.
Defensively, Tranmere have been solid enough, matching the goals conceded record of Port Vale, but the league leaders almost triple Tranmere’s goal tally.
“It’s all of us, we’ve all got a sort of take a step back and look at why we aren’t scoring as much”. We are striving towards that end goal which is getting the ball in the back of the net more often than what we have done”.
Tranmere fans endured the frustrsation of a second half Jordan Obikwu winner as Tranmere’s poor home form continued in League Two. The Birkenhead side now find themselves in 18th, six points from safety and seven points from the play-offs.
Tranmere have dropped a total of 12 points at home this season after 13 games.
“We’ve got another chance on Saturday to try, and kick start another run and get a positive result away from home but it’s a tough place to go” Wood added.
🎟️ There are still plenty of tickets for tomorrow’s game at Crewe which need to be collected from The Club Store before 5pm today.

Crewe fought off Fleetwood 1-0 at Highbury on Tuesday night after Ryan Cooney’s 87th minute winner from the spot. The Railwaymen find themselves in a playoff position in 6th, six points from top spot.
Rovers boss Nigel Adkins is happy enough with the players’ efforts: “I’m not prepared for anybody to turn around say my players aren’t working because they’re grafting, they show passion and commitment. The stats are backing that up, the performance is backing that up.”
Adkins, who just begun his second season with his hometown club after taking over in September last year, led the rovers to a 12th place finish last season.
“We’re not getting the wins that we’re after, when you are going through change like now, you got to have the ups and downs, it’s a little bit bumpy in the road at times.”
