Both Everton and Liverpool have plenty of young talent getting experience out on loan. Starting with Red’s loanee’s, here is how they are getting on.

Tyler Morton

Morton’s is making quite an impression at Blackburn. The 19-year-old has played just about every game since making his loan switch to the Championship outfit.

Blackburn released three central midfielders in the Summer, Joe Rothwell, Bradley Johnson and Jacob Davenport. This has allowed valuable minutes for the Ewood Park side who find themselves third in the Championship.

Wallasey-born Morton featured nine times for Liverpool last season and has already featured 18 times for Blackburn, earning himself a call up to Lee Carsley’s England Under 21’s squad.

Sepp van den Berg

Van den Berg will be side lined until the new year with ligament damage suffered whilst playing for Schalke 04 at the start of October.

The 20-year-old was only making his fourth appearance of the season against FC Augsburg when he rolled his ankle in an attempt to block a shot.

Having made 66 appearances over the last two seasons for Preston North End, all parties will be desperate for a speedy recovery so the Dutch player can continue his progression.

Rhys Williams

Rhys Williams has featured 12 times for Blackpool. It has been a tough season for the defender who hasn’t completed a full 90 minutes since August’s 1-0 defeat at Blackburn.

After their 3-3 draw with Bristol City, Seasider’s boss Michael Appleton explained why why he brought the central defender off at half time: “Sometimes you don’t have your best afternoon and he’s had better afternoons than he did in the first half. We just felt he was having one of those days which young players do. He will come stronger.”

The 21-year-old was absent for the first week of October, having picked up a shinbone injury. On the back of a disappointing loan spell at Swansea, Williams will be desperate to start and finish more matches providing better performances.

Conor Bradley

Northern Ireland international Conor Bradley has featured in 15 out of a possible 18 fixtures for League One Bolton Wanderers. The 19-year-old has operated either in his favoured position of right midfield or at right back. With three goals and three assists, the tricky player from Tyrone is already a fans favourite at the University of Bolton Stadium.

Bradley, like Woltman, came off the bench in Milan to become the first Northern Ireland player to play for Liverpool in the Champions League. The constant improvement that Bradley is showing, will have him in Jurgen Klopp’s good books.

The Everton loanees

Jarrad Branthwaite

Everton have big hopes for their 20-year-old centre half Jarrad Branthwaite. PSV Eindhoven Coach Ruud Van Nistelrooy was desperate to sign the young defender. When Branthwaite got the call, he admitted it ‘was an easy decision to make’.

The Cumbrian player made his debut in PSV’s 4-3 win over AS Monaco in the Champions League qualifying round and played 80 minutes in their 2-0 win against high-flying Arsenal. Against Feyenoord, Branthwaite managed to get himself a goal in the 16th minute in their 4-3 victory at the Phillips Stadium.

With a 6’5” build, Everton will be watching with interest.

Ellis Simms

With three goals in his first two games, Ellis Simms is set to return to the Sunderland squad having suffered a toe injury against Reading.

Simms grabbed two goals in his debut against Bristol City and was on the scoresheet the following week against QPR. Last season, the Oldham-born player scored seven goals in his six month loan at Hearts, including a goal away at Celtic Park.

With Everton continuing to look for answers up front, the 21-year-old will desperate to carry on where he left off before his injury.

Lewis Warrington

The player the Toffee’s label their ‘Seacombe Pirlo’, Lewis Warrington has impressed on loan at Fleetwood. Starting eight games so far this season and making one substitute appearance, Warrington has become an important part of Scott Brown’s side.

He became a fans favourite at Tranmere Rovers fans whilst on loan at Prenton Park, last season.

Lewis Dobbin

Another player the Everton faithful have high aspirations high hopes for is Lewis Dobbin who has managed 871 minutes across 17 matches for Derby County. Operating either on the wing or in a two-man striking partnership, the 19-year-old has scored a goal with two assists in his time at Pride Park so far.

Dobbin penned a three-year deal last season for Frank Lampard’s side before joining his managers previous club on loan for the 2022/23 season. Once the deal was completed, Dobbin told Derbyshire Live: “I’m delighted it’s finally done. I’m buzzing and I can’t wait to get started and meet the fans at Pride Park. I was in his (Lampard) office a couple of times, and he (Lampard) told me what a great club Derby County is and how I would benefit coming here. He (Lampard) was really happy for me to be here and encouraged me a lot.”
