Liverpool are set to lock horns with title rivals Manchester City in a potentially title defining game at Anfield.

A win for the hosts could find them 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League table and ahead of this crucial game. MSL has compiled an all time time great eleven made up of legends from both sides, in years goner by.

Goalkeeper- Alisson Becker

There is no doubt a strong argument for City’s Ederson with his six premier league titles, goalkeeper Alisson, cannot be ignored as one of the proven to be one of the best in the world. Since  arriving from Roma in 2018, he has provided iconic moments, such as his historic 95th minute goal against West Brom, which proved pivotal in Liverpool qualifying for the Champions League that season.

Right back- Kyle Walker

Trent Alexander-Arnold is unfortunate to miss out. Walker has been a constant for City’s starting 11 since arriving from Spurs in 2017 and with six premier league titles to his name, he pips the scouser and makes the cut.

Centre Back- Vincent Kompany

City legend Vincent Kompany was idolised by City fans during his 11 year spell there and with his heart on his sleeve playstyle as well as his 4 Premier League titles as captain he deservedly makes his way into the combined team.

Centre Back- Virgil van Dijk

Netherlands and Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk has been nothing short of sensational for the Reds since arriving from Southampton. Narrowly missing out on the 2019 Ballon D’or and guiding The Reds to Premier League glory in 2020, the Dutchman has to be in this team.

Left Back- Andy Robertson

Scotsman Andy Robertson has become a cult hero in seven years at Anfield in the seven years he’s spent at the Reds. Along with full back partner Trent Alexander-Arnold he has completely revolutionising the position. Robertson has the second most assists in Premier League history for a defender, as well as a Premier League title in 2020.

Holding midfielder- Rodri

The current Ballon D’or winner is a “shoe in”. His current absence has coincided with a drastic dip in City’s fortunes. Rodri became forever etched in City folklore when he secured the maiden Champions League title with the only goal in the final in Turin.

Centre Midfielder- Steven Gerrard

The Liverpool hero is described by many as the greatest Liverpool player and it isn’t difficult to see why; passing, shooting, tackling, beating his man, “Stevie G” could do the lot and is arguably the most complete midfielder the Premier League has ever seen.

Centre Midfielder- Kevin De Bruyne

City’s midfield maestro has been one of the stand out players of the Premier League since his arrival in 2015. Two Premier League player of the season awards, three playmaker awards and six Premier League titles make De Bruyne one of the first names on the team sheet.

Right Winger- Mo Salah

The Egyptian has been a consistent major force ever since he arrived at Anfield in 2018, scoring 32 goals and providing 10 assists in his first season. Since then, he’s kicked on impressively to say the least and now boasts three Premier League golden boots to his name. With 165 goals and 75 assists in 262 Premier League appearances for the Reds, Salah can’t be ignored.

Striker- Sergio Aguero

There were several candidates for this position, Erling Haaland and Luis Suarez just to mae two. Aguero gets the nod with 184 goals and 47 in 275 Premier League appearances. This, as well as five Premier League titles and the most iconic goal in Premier League history.

Left Winger- Sadio mane

The Senegalese completes the line up. Joining the Reds in 2016, Mane endeared himself to Kopites immediately with a screamer in a frantic 4-3 away at Arsenal. Since then he has become a club legend winning every major honour and with a golden boot and Premier League title.
