The Lionesses will look to improve their inconsistent form with a win against world number one side Spain in the Nations League.

England will look to get their revenge and top their Nations League table.

The Lionesses drew with Portugal in their last Nations League match after Portugal equalised in 75th minute.

Sarina Wiegman’s team have won two, drawn two and lost one in their last five matches.

Liverpool-born midfielder Grace Clinton played for 84 minutes against Portugal.

The 21-year-old Manchester United star has scored five goals in 13 matches this season and been an integral part of the team’s success this season.

One year on from her senior debut, she is expected to earn a seventh cap against Spain and provide impact in the midfield against Ballon D’or winner Aitana Bonmati.

Nikita Parris’ recent form in the WSL has been immense since joining Brighton at the beginning of the season.

The 30-year-old (pictured above) has amassed five goals and two assists in 14 matches for Brighton.

Parris has 71 caps for England in her career and this is her first England call up since 2022

Despite not featuring against Portugal, Parris will hope to get the opportunity to impress Wiegman against Spain and secure her place for the Euros.

The two sides have not met since the World Cup Final 2023, where Spain won 1-0.

In that final the infamous Luis Rubiales incident occurred.

The ex-Spanish football federation president was convicted in the Audiencia Nacional court and ordered to pay a fine of £10,800.

Lionesses’ star Alessia Russo said: “We stood in solidarity with them since the moment that it began.

“It’s really a shame that they have to have gone through this, but we hope that it makes change going further forward.”

England will be looking to remove these inconsistencies ahead of the Euros in July.

They face a tough group of France, Netherlands and Wales- and will need to prove themselves in the Nations League prior.

England v Spain will kick off tonight (Feb 26) at 8pm.
