Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been shortlisted for the BBC’s Sports personality of the Year award.
The England international ended the Reds’ long 30-year wait for a league title as Jurgen Klopp’s side comfortably claimed their first Premier League winners medal last season.
He also lifted the European Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup titles in the same season.

Henderson has proven to be a pivotal cog within Klopp’s engine room, and it’s well documented that without the Englishman, Liverpool’s performances suffer.
Within the Premier League alone, the current league holders have a 69% win percentage with the Sunderland native playing, compared to a 56% win percentage without.
The Liverpool skipper’s presence and leadership on and off the field has been a great asset for Jurgen Klopp, as he has undoubtedly become a figure that has been looked-up upon by academy players coming through the ranks.
One player who has evidently thrived under Henderson’s leadership is 19-year-old Curtis Jones, who has recently impressed with his performances for the Reds amidst the current midfield injury crisis at Anfield.
The midfielder joins the likes of cricketer Stuart Broad and Lewis Hamilton, as the winner will be announced later this month.
