A set of poor ratings that indicate an abysmal Everton display.

Jordan Pickford – 6

Pulled off a brilliant save at 2-2 to keep the scores level before the wheels fell off, although there was not much more he could have done for the goals.

Seamus Coleman – 2

Deliveries into the box all game were poor from the skipper and he was lacklustre, for the most part, defensively. The Irishman was partially at fault for Watford’s fifth after needlessly diving into a challenge missing both man and ball.

Michael Keane – 3

Despite a brilliant assist for Richarlison, Keane was part of the defensive calamity at the back. For Watford’s fourth Keane was poor twice – there was no attempt to stop the pass across goal and when he got back into position he fell for a fake-shot and the game was over.

Ben Godfrey – 2

This game highlighted the former Norwich man’s poor start to the season. Heading and passing was off all game. Zero communication led to Watford’s fourth goal.

Lucas Digne – 2

The left back made a needless foul which led to Watford’s equaliser in the 13th minute as well as picking up a silly yellow card four minutes later. No communication with Allan or Godfrey which led to a scramble before Watford sealed the tie at 4-2.

Tom Davies – 3

He did well to get his goal early on, but that’s as far as the positives go. Poor attempted clearance in the second half led to the corner Watford levelled the game on. Davies then pulled out of a challenge in the middle of the park two minutes later – Watford went upfield and were ahead 3-2.

Allan – 4

Does not seem as comfortable in the middle without Doucouré. At fault with Digne and Godfrey for Watford’s fourth goal.

Andros Townsend – 5

Always gives his all, but the game showed sometimes that is not always enough. A few dangerous crosses into the box from wide positions and corners, but nothing came from them.

Demarai Gray – 5

Did well getting the cross in for Davies to make it 1-0 early on. Looked dangerous every time he got the ball. The downfall for the blues started when he was subbed off at 2-1.

Anthony Gordon – 7

The youngster was bright all game, taking men on and playing the ball out wide. Was surprisingly taken off at 1-1 for Richarlison – much to the anger of the home fans. Gordon was the best player on the park until his substitution.

Salomon Rondon – 2

Another poor performance from the Venezuelan. Failed to get himself into dangerous areas to attack the ball and got beaten in the air a lot despite his height.

SUBSTITUTES

Richarlison – 7

Immediate impact after being introduced – heading home after three minutes of his arrival. He is so valuable to this Everton side.

Alex Iwobi – 3

The Nigerian was on the pitch less than a minute before Watford equalised at 2-2. The attacker was poor in possession and offered very little going forward.
