A glimmer of hope for an international return for Alex Hales as Chris Silverwood sheds light on the current situation.

Hales was charged by the ECB (England cricket board) in 2018 for the involvement in the Ben Stokes fight saga. More recently, Alex Hales has failed a recreational drug test leading to the expulsion from the England set up.

The 30-year-old opening batsmen lost his central contract with England. Hales took the summer to rejuvenate and hit good batting form in both Jamaican and English domestic leagues.

Despite the international door looking closed, newly appointed coach Chris Silverwood has opened up on the possibility of a potential return for the Nottinghamshire man.

Chris Silverwood said “I believe in never say never but equally he’s got to prove that firstly he’s getting the runs. Time is a great healer, so it’ll be a case of watch this space, really.”

Hales will not be taking part in the upcoming twenty over series against New Zealand next month.

But with a World Cup coming up next summer, Alex will be looking to prove his worth and replicate the heroics of former team-mate ben Stokes this summer despite the torrid time Stokes had late 2018.
