Liverpool travel to London to entertain Chelsea in the FA Cup 5th round tomorrow, three days after their first league loss at Vicarage Road to Watford.
Their latest FA Cup encounter with the eight-time champions was the 2012 Final at Wembley. Andy Carroll’s goal was not enough to dent Chelsea’s hopes of the domestic crown.
This game was more memorable for a dubbed phantom goal, which could have been given with goal-line technology today.
Here is a reminder of the 2012 Final, including the Geordie’s ‘goal’ in 2012:
This game was Liverpool’s last FA Cup Final appearance and Chelsea won the game 2-1, with goals from Ramires and Didier Drogba.
The Reds’ FA Cup record against Chelsea is a real mixed bag, especially since the 1980’s. Chelsea winning three of the last five.
