A round-up of this weekend’s Non-League football results from across the region of Merseyside:
National League North
Southport FC 1 Kidderminster Harriers 2
Southport’s hopes of finishing reaching the play-offs all but ended this weekend, after a 2-1 defeat at home to mid-table Kidderminster Harriers.
David Morgan gave the Sandgrounders the lead in the 18th minute, but Keith Lowe levelled proceedings shortly after. The hosts pushed for a winner, but the visitors conjured up a surprise winner when Ashley Hemmings netted in the 67th to claim all three points.
The result leaves Southport nine points behind Gateshead, who currently occupy the last remaining play-off spot.
NPL North West Division
Widnes 3 Pickering Town 2
A last minute Jamie Rainford winner moved Widnes ahead of fellow Merseysiders Prescot Cables (who weren’t in action) in the league table. A brace from Kingsley Williams put the home side in control, but a late surge from the visitors resulted in goals from both Ryan Cooper and Nathan Perks. However, Widnes were not to be denied, as a last minute winner from Rainford earned all three points for the hosts.
