Jerome Billing’s second half goal sealed the points for the away side to end the Reds’ three game unbeaten run.

Both Stefan Bajcetic and Jordan Henderson have been ruled out through injury.

The Liverpool squad were in good spirits ahead of their second leg clash in Madrid.

Madrid head into the game on the back of a 3-1 home victory against Espanyol.

The Catalans sit second in La Liga, nine points behind fierce rivals Barcelona.

Madrid are the current holders of the Champions League however after their 1-0 victory over Liverpool in last year’s final.
