Jurgen Klopp has said Trent Alexander-Arnold is an outstanding talent who has turned into an outstanding world class player.
The stewardship of Klopp has been a constant throughout Alexander-Arnold’s career with the German being the only manager he has played under.
The departing coach gave the Liverpool-born star his debut back in 2016 when he was only 18.
Since then, Alexander-Arnold has developed into one of the best players in the world.
He has won a Champions League and a Premier League among a number of trophies and achievements.
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp hails Trent Alexander-Arnold
Klopp said: “Fantastic player from the first day. Outstanding talent turned into an outstanding world-class footballer.
“It’s pretty rare as a manager to be part of that full journey. It will be good for him to get new influences in the future.
“But he can be quite happy with the steps he has made. What a good player he is – it’s crazy.
“Nothing bad to say about Trent, he is one of these stories that not a lot of clubs can really write, but he’s one people will talk about 20, 30, 40 years.
“For a boy from West Derby, that’s probably the best he can have in life.”
Alexander-Arnold’s position has evolved this season, with the wingback stepping into more central areas when Liverpool have possession of the ball.
His new role has highlighted his maturity as a football player, with the demand to play in tight spaces whilst also contributing more directly as a goal scorer.
Alexander-Arnold is now on three Premier League goals for the season after scoring against Fulham in Liverpool’s 3-1 win last time out, closing in on his record of four.
His position change, as well as injury struggles this season, has aided the emergence of young prospect Conor Bradley.
Klopp added: “I said Trent is Trent, but Conor is Conor. Conor when he came in was our best player. He is an exceptional player.”
Liverpool take on Everton in the Merseyside derby tomorrow night, with Alexander-Arnold expected to feature, but Bradley missing out with an ankle injury.
