Liverpool manager Arne Slot has praised Ange Postecoglou’s style of football ahead of their game against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Slot said that he believes Postecoglou has given Tottenham their ‘identity’ back.
He said: “I hope he wins a trophy, not the league cup, but I am completely a fan of his team for the Europa League”, after it was confirmed last night that Liverpool would face Tottenham again in January in the semi-final of the Carabao Cup.
“People always talk about trophies, that is so important, now for me his brand of football, his style of football is so much more important.
“If he could combine that with winning something that would be so good for football in general.”
He added that it “would be a privilege to be a season ticket holder at Tottenham” because of their style of play.
Liverpool go into Sunday’s fixture two points clear at the top of the Premier League, with the possibility that Chelsea could take the top spot this weekend.
Diogo Jota and Harvey Elliott have both recently returned from injury, with Jota scoring against Fulham last weekend.
Slot emphasised the importance of having players back to make an impact when there are so many fixtures to play.
Federico Chiesa also gained minutes against Southampton on Wednesday.
The manager said: “He is getting stronger but he is also facing a lot of competition in the right-wing position.”
The Dutchman also highlighted the usefulness of young players such as Tyler Morton and James McConnell.
He said the club is so special because there is always room for academy players.
Defenders Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are the only two players yet to return to training.
There are currently no updates on either.
Tottenham v Liverpool kicks off at 4.30pm this Sunday December 22.
