Andy Crosby is “delighted” with new signing Aaron McGowan who joined the club today on a short-term deal ahead of their home fixture against Barnet on Saturday.
The 29-year-old right back has arrived from Northampton Town on a contract until January amid an injury crisis at Prenton Park.
McGowan has previously captained League One side Northampton Town along with stints at Morecambe, Hamilton and Kilmarnock.

Tranmere boss Crosby is looking forward to the quality McGowan will bring to the squad.
He told MerseySportLive: “I’m delighted with the opportunity to work with him, an experienced player who’s spent the last couple of seasons playing in League One. He’s in excellent condition and has been training over the last four to six weeks, so he’s ready.”
With injury problems all over the park, including centre back Lee O’Connor and defensive midfielder Jason Lowe, McGowan may find himself in the starting line-up as soon as this weekend.
Crosby said: “(to have so many injuries) is far from ideal. So, then you have to look at other scenarios of how you can fix the problem and obviously it gives us an opportunity to have a look at Aaron.”
Tranmere come into the game against Barnet off the back of a 2-1 win against Barrow in the EFL Trophy and an impressive 3-3 draw after being 3-1 down against Bromley in their last league fixture.
Crosby is pleased with the desire his team has shown to come back from losing positions even after defender Jordan Turnbull was forced off in the first half against Bromley last weekend.
He said: “It would have been really easy to feel sorry for ourselves again with another injury suffered in the first half, but the players kept on going.
“We deserved to get ourselves back into that game, and the only unfortunate thing is that we couldn’t quite take advantage of the extra man we had in the final stages of that game.”
It will be a tough task for Tranmere on Saturday as newly promoted Barnet look to continue a five game unbeaten streak in all competitions.
“They’ve managed to continue their momentum from last season and have picked up good results home and away,” said Crosby.
“We’re aware of the challenge but as always, we’re going to try and do what’s best for us and go for the win.”
