Liverpool Women travel to Bramall Lane to face Sheffield United tomorrow in their third game in the FA Women’s League Cup, hoping to make it three wins from three.
Gareth Taylor’s side sit top of Group B after beating both Durham and Sunderland with Sheffield United just one point behind them in the table.
Last time out in the Cup, Liverpool beat Durham 2-1 and Sheffield United beat Sunderland 1-0, making this fixture hard to call.
The last time the sides met was in 2022, where Liverpool won 6-1 to lift Championship trophy.
The hosts haven’t lost in six consecutive games whereas Liverpool haven’t won in the WSL all season. Their last two games were draws against Chelsea and Brighton.
Ash Thompson’s side look to go top of the group with a win over Liverpool as they have beaten Sunderland and won on penalties against Durham, putting them in a battle with the Reds for the top spot.
Liverpool drew to champions Chelsea at the weekend with Beata Olsson scoring her third goal in her last three games.
But despite a well-earned point at the weekend, Liverpool moved to the bottom of the WSL.
Sheffield United have scored two goals in this competition so far with Amy Andrews scoring her fourth goal of the season against Sunderland making her one to watch this season.
Liverpool put five goals past Sunderland in their opening game in the cup with Sophie Haug at the double.
The Reds have conceded 15 goals this season similarly to the Blades’ 14, so there’s a high chance of goals in this game.
Sheffield United sit in seventh in the WSL 2 with their last loss being against second-placed Birmingham back in September.
Liverpool have yet to win in the WSL this season and they sit in 12th with only two points to their name.
