Many non league fixtures across Merseyside fell victim to the rain and high winds of Storm Eunice over the weekend.
Second-placed Marine’s home tie against Clitheroe in the Northern Premier League West was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Warrington Rylands, third in the same league, also had their game postponed away to Kendal Town FC.
Both sides will be disappointed as they missed a chance to go top ahead of league leaders Workington Reds.
Workington also had their game cancelled against Ramsbottom United ensuring their first place status until next weekend at least.
The Reds face Widnes at home next Saturday as the promotion battle continues, with the Mariners travelling to face Kidsgrove Athletic away.
Rylands will hope to be back in action at home to Trafford this weekend.
Prescot Cables, fighting relegation third from bottom, did play against Widnes away at the DCBL Stadium 3G pitch, and fell to a 2-1 defeat.
Another Northern Premier League clash between Runcorn Linnets and Bootle FC was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch at the Millbank Linnets Stadium.
Further down the football pyramid, Skelmersdale United beat the weather to claim a 3-0 victory over Barnoldswick Town in the North West Counties Premier League.
Their all-weather pitch dealt with the conditions with ease.
Skelmersdale remain in second place behind Macclesfield.
In the same league, Lower Breck FC and AFC Liverpool’s fixtures also went ahead – the former’s home venue being an all-weather pitch, and the latter travelled to play Avro FC in Greater Manchester.
But many other local teams had matches postponed, including Vauxhall Motors, South Liverpool and St Helens Town.
