St Helens continued their unbeaten start to the season, beating the Warrington Wolves 28-2.
Warrington were the first side to draw blood with a Stefan Ratchford penalty goal in the 14th minute.
But the Saints response was quick.
Tommy Makinson kicked a penalty goal for the reigning champions after Warrington were penalised for offside in the 20th minute.
Soon after, Warrington were penalised again for offside, leaving Chris Kendall no choice other than to sin bin George Williams for the repeated offence.
The Saints made the most of their numerical advantage, just a minute later Jack Welsby got the first try of the game finishing a sublime Jonny Lomax grubber kick.
It was only a matter of time before St Helens scored again.
Mark Percival opened the way for Tommy Makinson. The England international was on hand to extend the lead to 12-2 in the 33rd minute.
The Saints scored the first try of the second half too.
Tommy Makinson was on hand to score his second try of the night. The winger added the finishing touch to a clinical overlap.
In the 63rd minute, the Saints were at it again. Mark Percival skipped past Peter Mata’utia and ran in to earn himself a well-deserved try. The England international was Tommy Makinson’s workhorse for his two tries, and got his just rewards.
With just two-and-a-half minutes to go, St Helens scored the final try of the game.
Jonny Lomax was on hand to capitalise on a poor Warrington pass on their own ten-meter line and scored underneath the posts.
Lewis Dodd added the extras, but it didn’t matter. The Saints’ hard work in the previous 77 minutes had killed the game long before Lomax’s try.
The Saints have now won all five of their opening Super League games, an unprecedented four-in-a-row isn’t just a possibility, but a probability for Kristian Wolff’s men.
