The British Ninja Championships are coming to Liverpool this weekend, with HC:Fit Ninja Training hosting the event for the second year running.
The competition will consist of a range of ninja style obstacle courses with around 20 competitors expected to take part.
Last year’s winners of the male and female categories, Viktor Mikhailov and Beth Lodge, will both be competing again as they hope to reclaim their crown.
British Obstacle Sports said: “HC:Fit is a renowned ninja training facility which has been host to many ninja athletes and champions who have competed in the UK and internationally.
“The competition features a wide range of authentic ninja obstacles including the classics such as the double salmon ladder, peg board, warped wall, quintuple steps and spider climb as well as a number of innovative and exciting originally designed obstacles.”
There are three stages to the event with stage one being speed, stage two being technical, and the final stage three being labelled as the “brutally hard course,” by event director Henry Cookey, who is also the owner and head coach at HC:Fit Ninja Training.
Cookey added: “Beth Lodge is the female favourite, Tommy Matthews is the male favourite, but a number of ninjas could steal the show, including Hollis Lansford, Mikhailov, Jack Andrews, Chris De Stefano and Henry Searle.”
Obstacle sports such as ninja sports and parkour have seen a huge rise in popularity over recent years with shows like Ninja Warrior UK, which Beth Lodge was a winner of in 2022.
With a trophy and cash prize up for grabs, excitement is continuing to build ahead of the event following the success of last year’s competition.
The second ever British Ninja Championships will be held at HC:Fit Ninja Training in Bootle on Sunday with the competition expected to start at 1.15pm.
