Jurgen Klopp said he is uncertain about Mohamed Salah’s future availability after he suffered an injury playing for Egypt against Ghana in the Africa Cup of Nations.
Salah was substituted in the first half in the Afcon group game as Egypt drew 2-2 with Ghana.
It looked like Salah suffered a suspected hamstring problem and had to be withdrawn just before half-time.
Klopp said today: “We don’t know anything. I spoke last night with him, and he needs further assessment and that’s what they are doing now.
“We all know how rarely Mo goes off. It depends on the diagnosis.
“We have ultrasound, and we have MRI then we will know what it is then we will see.”
Salah has been pivotal to Liverpool claiming top spot in the Premier League and a two-point lead over rivals Manchester City.
The Egyptian has provided 14 goals this season making him the league’s highest goal scorer alongside Manchester City striker Erling Haaland as well as providing eight assists.
He was due to return to Liverpool action in February at the end of Afcon.
