A goalkeeper from Southport has been made part of the FA’s Para Football Pathway, putting players with impairments on course to  reach the England Para Team.

Ethan, who plays for Southport and Ainsdale, visited St George’s Park earlier this year for a training session and was then selected to participate in further sessions with Manchester United once a month.

Ethan, who was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy at the age of two, is a big football fan. His idol is Liverpool shot stopper Alisson Becker.

When Ethan was diagnosed there were fears that the mobility of the left side of his body would be severely impacted and he would have trouble walking.

Despite these concerns, Ethan has, “crushed any barrier that’s has been in his way,” according to his mother Michelle.

Ethan’s grandfather is former Everton and Manchester City footballer, Mike Walsh, and the young net minder will be hopeful to follow a similar path to that in the future.
