Litherland Remyca suffered a 3-1 home loss to top of the league Chadderton FC in a deserved result for both sides.

Chadderton nearly took the lead in the fifth minute but were denied by a great save by Paddy McLoughlin who got down well and smothered the ball to deny Adam Dale.

Malikay Fry produced a last-ditch challenge in the 15th minute to prevent a one-on-one for the visitors.

The away side took the lead in the 25th minute. Dale chipped a pass in behind the Remyca defence which was met by Rob Worall who smashed a first-time volley into the top corner.

Chadderton doubled their lead in the 26th minute, with Dale latching onto an over-the-top ball before calmly nodding the ball past McLoughlin and smashing the ball into an empty net.

Remyca pulled one back in the 38th minute when Morgan Falloh ran past three Chadderton players before calmly dispatching the ball into the bottom corner.

The hosts fell agonisingly close to equalising just before half time. James Farr found Samuel Bhatti with a floated cross, who shot inches wide.

Remyca ended the first half well after a shaky start and the goal just before half time was a result of their persistent efforts in the last 15 minutes of the half.

Remyca were denied an equaliser in the 52nd minute by a Morgan Bacon save following a powerful Nathan Corness shot.

Chadderton scored their third goal in the 55th minute. Lew Byrne carried the ball from 25 yards out before smashing it into the net from a tight angle to make it 3-1.

Ollie Beamon had a free header from the penalty spot for the hosts following a corner but nodded over the bar.

Chadderton nearly found the net for the fourth time in the 68th minute. Tyler Berry won the ball before playing through Lewis-Simon Byrne, but the Remyca defenders recovered and smothered the ball out of play.

Chadderton captain Jordan Schofield was forced off the pitch with a foot injury in the 76th minute despite repeated attempts to run it off.

Overall, it was a fair result looking at the overall balance of the game with the visitors having more of the ball and creating more clear cut chances throughout.

Remyca will be disappointed with their performance as it was far from their best but Chadderton were brilliant on the ball and this performance moves them deservedly to the top of the league table whereas Remyca remain 16th.
